Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD takes the form of repeated intrusive thoughts or ‘rituals’ such as touching something a precise number of times, checking and re-checking or needing to maintain order and precision. Severe anxiety results if these behaviours cannot be performed. In some cases the person’s daily life is adversely affected and interpersonal relations suffer. Common types of OCD include hand-washing, hoarding, collecting and cleaning.
